Sorry! Mother

Splashing down the window pane
and lashing down memory's lane.

A powerful force of nature's.
It nurtures and tortures.

It cradles great seas and oceans,
It nourishes expanses of amazons

But,when its pouring out its wrath?
What a devastating aftermath?

What was the anger?
The sounds of cries,to this day, linger.

Creating nightmares ,leaving
child-folk sparsely with teddy bears.

Making lonely souls and empty bowls.

Why mother nature, you are punishing us?
When we reach out ,will you forgive us?

You have now pushed us to the brink ,
We have no option, but to think.

What salvaging we can do?
For forgiveness we ask-'would you'?

Oedipus and Electra

I went for a stroll in the park. There I eavesdropped on a conversation between three friends.

Sorry ,but the topic was scandalous! This is what I heard:

"Oedipus and electra?
Who are they?
Lovers?
Brother and sister?"asked 'A' in total curiosity.

"Well, all you said are almost right"said 'C'

How can that be?lovers and siblings?any new sex club?asked 'B'

'C' was already laughing heartily hearing 'A' and 'B' guessing.
He could hear no more.
"Come on guys, give me a break. These are names of a boy and a girl, from ancient Greece."

'A' was intrigued,"from when have you started relishing history books?I thought you were into medicine."

'A' said ,"This is science. Now, listen:

Oedipus is the name of a boy who, according to Greek mythology, unknowingly killed his father and married his mother. "

A real freak,said 'B'.

"According to science, each young boy in his adolescence, symbolically relives the Oedipus drama. He has cravings for his mother and views his father as a hated rival."

"Hey,don't say that. I love my parents." intruded 'A'

"Yes,your are right. But , all these feelings occur because of certain necessary chemicals in our body called hormones."

"So, the hormone guy is the villain?"said 'A'.It gave him some relief.

"Even though the father is considered a rival, the boy also fears his father , as a result he represses his sexual desire for his mother .Eventually if all goes well, the boy identifies with the father and comes to have harmless affection for the mother."

Both 'A' and 'B' let out a big sigh of relief.

'B' was quick to ask,"Does all this happen to only we boys?Do girls go scott-free?"

"No.The Electra complex is the female counterpart. It is based on the view that each girl wants to possess her father and replace her mother."

"Real bitches!"they sang in chorus.

Felt like seeing an aborigine movie.I could not hear anymore.I was sweating profusely.so, I left the place silently.

There is so much I have to know about my body,I thought.

Go to think of it, like 'C' said ,this is a normal growing process. It happens to all, knowingly or unknowingly ,in different degrees.

It happens mainly in a person's adolescence but, it may extend beyond that phase ,for a few.So, a bit of caution has to be applied.

My God!They don't say adolescence is a difficult period for nothing.

Thank goodness, I have grown up now.

Soul of life

I am a rose,
I am the dew drop,
I am a thorn
and I am the crop.

I am fragrance,
I am the color,
I am a tendril
and I am the flower.

I am a green grass,
I am the tree,
I am the sunshine
and the wind-free.

I am a lotus,
I am the bee,
I am the pollen
and nature's glee.

I am a mountain ,
I am the fountain,
I am the sea and the
water-life you see.

I am you,
I am me,
I know the truth
so,I am free.

I am a dead,
I am the day,
I am the grave and
the thoughts within.

I am a ghost,
I am the night,
I am all there is;
Knowing it earlier,
would have been bliss.

An unforgettable experience

There are so many delicacies in a lifetime .Not of food for the stomach, but for the mind.
We have to just keep our hearts open, to find them.
Here is one such incident that teaches us the value of life and of timely help ,all at once.

A few years ago, my friend Sheela was traveling on a national highway, with her husband and child back from their vacation spot. She was on a taxi with three other co-passengers.
Sheela and her son were sitting on the front seat next to the driver. When the taxi had travelled half the way to its destination, an old lady and her daughter from the back seat ,wanted to swap seats with my friend and her son.

Sheela accepted and allowed them to occupy the seats.

The taxi would have travelled only a few kilometers with this new seating arrangement, when suddenly from nowhere a lorry came speeding towards them. The situation was out of control and the lorry stopped only when it slid over the taxi , crushing the front half of it.

Sheela had been unconscious for quite sometime. When she regained consciousness, she came to know that the old lady ,her daughter and the driver were crushed under the weight of the lorry.

the four of them in the backseat had survived the accident, but with serious injuries.

the middle-aged man next to her in the backseat , had succumbed to the injuries on his way to the hospital.

Sheela, her husband and son underwent many surgeries before they could be back on their feet. They took many months to resume normal living.

the highlight of the incident is that ,when they regained consciousness, their attending doctor,
told them that they have survived the accident because they were brought to hospital on time for treatment.

One other taxi driver who was on the same road, had stopped to help.Having seen them bleeding and semi-conscious ,he had called for an ambulance immediately.he had travelled with them to the hospital ,waited there till the hospital authorities could give them first aid .

he then left ,not leaving behind his phone number, address or even name .

To this day,my friend and her family thank this unknown good samaritan, for their lives.

Thank you, wherever you are brother.

'Singam'tamil movie:my review

Singam is a perfect masala mix movie.

This being the 25th movie for the hero surya,it will give him more of a mass appeal.

Anushka is very beautiful ,but quite a bit taller than the hero.they have tried to cover up this oddity by using different angles of the camera, but it is still evident whenever the pair stand beside each other.

Manorama 'aachi' has been given very few scenes.she could have been used in a much better manner.even with such a short appearance she makes a mark.

So is the case for Radharavi too.

The only other person who has a bit of scope in the movie apart from the hero ,is the villian Prakashraj.
Both the hero and the villian have a challenge as to who will shout louder.

The songs are good and melodious. The locations are pleasant and captured on camera beautifully.

How can I forget Mr.Yerimalai?
The background music for the comedian was a good idea.Vivek has gone along with the movie and has not tried to improvise like his usual self.
He looks a bit older and out of shape.
But, his face expressions and witty talks do leave a smile on our face.

Why is it that movie after movie the main theme is violence?
Half the time we see someone threatening another .

It is a good change not to see obscenity or filthy language on screen.

Now, the limelight has fallen on tamil artists and movies.the whole world is sitting up and watching.
At this point, I feel we should give more creative and varied movies especially by leading heroes .

I hope that tamil movie fans will choose good and creative movies to take tamil cinema to the next level.

Short story-Memories

James and Rani were a beautiful pair.It seemed they were 'made for each other'.

They had loved each other in college and had got married, against many odds. They have lived happily for a year now.

It was their first wedding anniversary and they wanted to celebrate it pompously.

They had called all their friends.Since both of them were working on full-time jobs, they had a huge crowd to welcome.

James and Rani had a great time with their friends ; till James saw Raj.

Raj was a handsome and smart , young bachelor who worked in Rani's office. He is a good friend of her's too.

Rani used to mention about Raj occasionally, to James, whenever he had helped her out with problems in office.
James had not thought much about him till then.

Raj's striking looks and sharp intellect created an inferiority complex in James.

The function was over and all the friends had left.
But, Raj had not left James thoughts. He was here to stay.

James started asking his wife periodcaly about Raj and as to what she felt about him.Rani did not take these questions seriously in the beginning. But, slowly she started to sense changes in James' behavior.

James was falling a prey to suspicion day by day.
This affected his normal life and his relationship with his wife worsened.

At one point, James' fear reached fever pitch and he could not hold it back any longer.
He burst out at his wife with all animosity and allegations.

Rani was totally shattered and did not know how to respond.
She cried her heart out, but to no avail. Then, she thought going out to office would ease her nerves. She started to office.

Even then ,she could not bear to think that her husband could suspect her with someone else.

With all her mind clogged with these thoughts, she forgot to check the signals before crossing the lane.Fortune did not favor Rani that day.
She had a bad accident on her way, close to office and her head was injured.

She was admitted into the intensive care unit of a nearby hospital by her erstwhile friend Raj.
James rushed to see his dear wife, on hearing the news.
Rani took a few weeks to regain consciousness.

Rani's parents and James 'parents had come over to see her.

The doctor took Rani through a series of tests and declared that all her senses were back to normal.
But, that he cannot say anything about her memories.

All her friends and relatives came to see her. There was a big crowd at the hospital.
But, she remembered none.
She did not remember james too.

She only remembered the person who carried her to the hospital ,immediately after the accident -her friend- her friend Raj.

So, Raj, Rani and James live in the same flat now-a-days.James and Raj have decided on this arrangement till Rani remembers James.

All this on James request.

Note:
Today is James' and Rani's second wedding anniversary. But, she knows nothing of it.

James never had the guts to tell Raj what he had thought about him.Staying with Raj for one year made him realize what a fool he had been to think so.

My experience with a spirit

What do we know about spirits?Do they exist or not?

Please!I am not talking about the ones that a bartender serves you. This is about ghostly spirits.

There is always a debate on this topic and there are always people to support both sides.
Why is it so?

I think, the existence of spirits is a feeling,an intuition.

I have heard and I believe that a few people are more sensitive to the presence of spirits, than others.
The ones who are most sensitive are the 'mediums'.
The next rung of people form a full spectrum from feeling its presence most often to those who sense it once in a way.
The last rung of people never feel its presence in their life.
The blessed ones!

I would have called myself one of those blessed ones if I had not had this particular experience.

Many years back, when i had gone to a small town with my parents, we stayed at a guest house.

This guest house was an old english building which was surrounded by thick greenery.
It was a huge mansion and i was intrigued by the massive size of the rooms .
It was a two-storied building and for the night we stayed in one of the bedrooms with a bath-attached ,in the ground floor.

During the night ,deep in my sleep, I was disturbed by a feeling of someone looking at me.
I got up and sat on my bed. i felt someone looking at me from the bathroom.
I looked in that direction and saw a misty figure peeping out into the bedroom and staring straight at me.

At first ,I thought it was a fit of my imagination.I kept looking at the figure in bouts, for almost an hour. But,the shape or the stare had no change in its direction or intensity.I felt the presence strongly and felt the strong stare at me.

I cannot credit myself for a person with nerves of steel, but I felt no fear .How strange!I felt a strong sense of sorrow flowing out of the figure.

I reported this to my parents and they did not believe me.

On my insistence, they enquired about this to the caretaker of the building.
The caretaker said that nobody had reported any presence earlier but, there had been a death of a 10 year old girl in the same bathroom during the process of reconstruction of the building.

The description he gave about the girl ,well fitted the figure I saw the previous night.

But,I was astonished and this experience left me with all new feeling towards spirits.

So much, for all the ghost stories!

In retrospect

Walking the roads,
breaking the rules,
I danced along;
who cared for being told?

Laughing aloud,
singing so bold,
I whistled along,
who dared to scold?

Days rolled by,
so did the years;
Suddenly I found ,
I was way-past teddy bears.

With waxy skin
and a wobbly shin,
I look back at me-
in retrospect.

I sit to rest,
I sit to think,
I sit to link with what i did.

To give a hand,
to save a cause,
to save a land -what i did?

Lost in joys,
searching on unknown toys,
oblivious of elsewhere suffering kin,
years were wasted in childish din.

Now I fear ;
I know my days are near;
What justice can i do to help me cross,
with a peaceful mind and heart like floss?

Snippet 1

I wanted to write a humorous post.but, what can I laugh at?

A person who can laugh on himself is the person with a good sense of humor.I don't know how good my sense of humour is ,but I come across many instances to laugh on myself.

Here is one such incident:

On a fine day, I went to drop my son in school.

After having dropped him in school, I thought I should rest for a while, before I find my way back.
I saw a bench in the school garden .Thanking my good fortune, I sat down on the bench.

Only then, i realized a kid standing near the bench, looking at something curiously.

I called the child and asked" come here sweetie.what are you looking at?"

The child -"The bench is freshly painted and I was seeing what beautiful designs it has made on your dress."

Oh...Oh...

Child-talk

Many times, we feel tired being adults.

For a few minutes, let us imagine ourselves as a three year old.

Now, having imagined yourself to being a three year old:

Your parents take you to the cinemas.
Your mom is tired , your dad wants to relax .They think a comical movie will fit the bill.

You are very happy and are having a great time ,
not having to worry about the big fat bully next door or
the dirty stare that your teacher gives you , when you say you want to go to the "loo" ,the umpteenth time.
You are totally in bliss.

Suddenly, something happens.

The lights are switched off and from nowhere you hear loud noises.

Jolted out of your wits you ask your mom, "What is this?"

"This is music baby."

"This is music? This loud sound, that frightens me from all sides, is music?

Mom is smiling and dad is half a sleep already. How can he sleep in this noise?
I think dad's snoring is louder than this music sound".

You are sooo scared and you start to scream and cry your heart out.

Your mom tries to reason out with you .
She even threatens to beat you .

Nothing works!!Nothing at-all works!!

With all her weapons exhausted, she wakes up dad.

She pulls him straight down from heaven, onto earth.

He is woken up halfway through his sleep, with a bad headache and totally irritated.

Thinking of the dangers he will put himself into,by shouting at his wife, his anger is directed to the scapegoat-the child.
So, papa pitches in by showing an angry finger and raising his voice .
Now ,this adds on to the noise and you are terrified.

The pitch and volume of your cry now breaks guinness records!

The whole world is witnessing this event (at least ,mom and dad know that already!)

In sheer frustration and embarrassment, mom carries you out of the cinema hall and gives you a good spanking . She promises never to bring you anywhere.

Feeling totally defeated, she begins to cry too.

You stand there completely bewildered and not knowing what made mom cry.

"Should i console her now?Maybe she didn't like the music too.I know.It was very scary.Poor mom."

What are you thinking now?
